The Shenandoah Area Council of Boy Scouts of America includes 3 counties in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia and 6 counties in the Northern Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The council headquarters is in Winchester, Virginia. The council has 10 fulltime, year-round employees, consisting of 5 professional Scouters, 4 office staff and a year-round camp ranger. Nearly 2000 volunteers provide quality Scouting experiences for over 7,000 youth and families every year. Over 100 local organizations charter about 185 Cub Scout packs, Boy Scout troops, and Venturing crews.
The annual council budget of $1,075,000 is supported by over 2,200 Friends of Scouting investors, program fees, popcorn sales, 6 United Ways and other sources. The Shenandoah Area Council is nationally recognized, having earned the 2007 BSA Centennial Quality Council Award.
