Dear Scouting Volunteers and Supporters:

 

2012 was a successful year for Scouting in the Shenandoah Area Council.  Your investment of time, talent and financial support assisted us in delivering a quality Scouting program to over 5,000 young people!

Scouting’s Impact on your community in 2012:

  • 3,896 registered traditional youth members served
  • 4,954 registered total youth members served
  • 192 packs, troops, crews, posts, and groups
  • 1,780 registered adult volunteers
  • 194,000+ service hours performed in our communities by leaders & youth
  • 95 young men achieved Scouting’s highest rank; Eagle Scout
  • 2,400+ Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts achieved one or more rank advancements
  • 4,000+ Merit Badges were earned, exposing young men to potential career and hobby interests for life
  • 75,000+ pounds of food collected to help those in need in areas our Council serves

 

Council Pride Points from 2012:

  • Over $60,000 spent on upgrading facilities, infrastructure, and program equipment
  • 20 Scouts experienced the ultimate Scouting adventures at the Florida Sea Base
  • Enhanced our operations by hiring a full-time Facility Manager/Camp Director and contracting out for a Camp Ranger
  • 12,000+ camper nights at Camp Rock Enon
  • 800 attended Camp Rock Enon for the Section Conclave
  • 4,860 service hours performed by the Order of the Arrow at Camp Rock Enon
  • Recognized as a Gold Level Council with a 33% increase in points earned in the National “Journey to Excellence” quality program
  • Accredited Cub Resident Camp, Boy Scout Camp, and Twilight Camps
  • $9,400 in camperships/scholarships given to Scouts in need to join Scouting and attend an outdoor experience

 

 

2013 promises to be a great year as we focus on the main thing:

“Serve an ever-increasing number of youth through quality units”
