The Philmont Scout Ranch is located in Cimarron, New Mexico, and is the Boy Scouts of America's oldest national high-adventure base. Its 34 staffed camps and 55 trail camps provide an unforgettable adventure in the high country along hundred of miles of rugged, rocky trails.
The dates of the 2014 Philmont Trek will be announced in March, 2013 but should start around June 25th, departing the ranch 12 days later. Additional days for travel and touring will be included. The approximately 18 day adventure includes 12 days at the Philmont BSA Ranch. Prior to arriving at Philmont, the 2014 Adult Advisors will plan pre-trek activities over4-5 days allowing for all to acclimate to the altitude (9,000-14,000 feet), and have fun while visiting and exploring the high country of Colorado and New Mexico. Some activities from previous years included whitewater rafting on the famous Arkansas River, visits to the US Air Force Academy, the US Olympic Training Center, and Garden of the Gods.
