Shenandoah Area Council University of Scouting is the premiere training event of the year for all adults and Venturers involved in Scouting! The university is a great opportunity for fun and fellowship with other Scouters from throughout Northern Shenandoah Valley and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. NEW COURSES FOR 2014! Any registered Scouter, parent or interested adult may attend the University of Scouting.
Junior Leaders (Boy Scouts & Venturers) may also attend certain classes (marked with "**"), but may not earn a degree. Non-degreed attendees at the University of Scouting will receive a Certificate of Completion.
The basic requirement to earn a degree at the University of Scouting is to be a registered Scouter who has completed both Youth protection Training and New Leader Essentials for your current registered position. The University of Scouting is divided into four Colleges to structure courses into program tracks. The degree requirements for each college are specific to the degree, but basically employ a method of progressive learning, adding skills and requirements for each degree level (including teaching and development of a syllabus) for consistent, relevant, quality instruction for current and future attendees. The four Colleges are as follows:
